Apple Butter

Ingredients

  • • 4 medium granny smith apples
  • • ¾ c brown sugar
  • • ¼ c water
  • • 1 t cinnamon
  • • 1 t lemon juice
  • • 1/3 t ground allspice
  • • 1/3 t ground nutmeg
  • • 1/3 t cloves
  • • ½ t vanilla
  • Directions

    1. Mix all ingredients in a slow cooker.
    2. Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours (until apples are very tender).
    3. Mash apples with fork.
    4. Cook, uncovered, for 1-2 more hours, stirring occasionally until thick.
    5. Cool for about 2 hours.
    6. Store in refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
